De Poolse virtuoze altviolist Marcin Murawski komt speciaal voor dit concert naar Dordrecht. Zijn vader onderwees en coachte hem tijdens zijn hele studie, wat resulteerde in het winnen van vele concoursen en zijn huidige status als leraar aan het conservatorium in Poznan en het spelen van soloconcerten over de hele wereld. Ook is Marcin een veel gevraagd docent tijdens masterclasses. Marcin is vooral een veelzijdig musicus. Naast de altviool speelt hij ook elektrisch gitaar en houdt veel van Rockmuziek. Vele componisten hebben stukken voor hem geschreven.
Momenteel maakt Marcin deel uit van het bestuur van de International Viola Society.

Marcin Murawski (b. 1974), the violist of interna­tional repute, graduated with distinction from the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in in 1998. He has won prizes in international competitions for soloists and chamber music, amongst others in Poznań (1993), Łódź (1998) and Sopot (Grand Prix 2002). 

He is a very active performer in concerts, both as a soloist and in chamber music, and has appeared in prestigious festivals in Poland and also in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine and the USA (including Carnegie Hall). 

Marcin Murawski is a highly respected teacher, with a doc. hab. in musical arts, professor at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and teacher of countless graduates and winners of international awards and prizes. He regularly gives viola and chamber music master classes around Europe (Bergen, Reykjavik, Dublin, Riga, Tallinn and Tbilisi), in the USA and in New Zealand (Wellington). He has frequently been a member of the jury for competitions in Poland and also serves as an expert for the Polish Artistic Education Centre. He has more than 30 cds and dvds in his discography; he has recorded with the Acte Préalable label, not only compositions from the past but also contemporary works, some of them dedicated specially to him, notably by the American composer and violist Michael Kimber. 

He is a member of the International Viola Society, the Australian and New Zealand Viola Society and the Hummel Gesellschaft in Weimar.
